St Ninian Chape Brooch designs are derived from the Pictish treasure found on St. Ninian's, Shetland: anbeautiful hoard of silver bowls, pins, brooches and chapes. The Chapes date from the late 8th century and the two porpoise-like heads had significance in Pictish folklore, perhaps as two sea gods or good on one side and evil on the other.
