April 2007 Update
As you can see this site has not been updated for a while due to the sale of the Pan in 2002 to finance my son's Downhill Mountain Bike career (the bikes cost £4,500). However it all seems to have been worth it as he has ridden for Team GB and is now a Factory Team Rider for QBikes in France (www.qbikes.com).

The good news is that I am now in the hunt for a bike again and hope to finalise a deal shortly on a R1200RT, too many stories about the Pan not being quite right and a new one coming out very shortly, so I don't want to be left with the old one. The RT is excellent, no question, I hope the next Pan is all it should be. Billy has continued to ride and currently has a Triumph Sprint ST, however the position is too sporty for him now, so he is looking for a new steed! His bike is for sale, has done 2,000 miles and is utterly immaculate, he is the most fastidious owner of vehicles on the planet. If you are a looking for one, this is like new and the minimum he would accept is £6,250, it's in blue.

Alan and Billy Swiss Layby This site is aimed at fellow enthusiasts and as I hail from Oban on the West of Scotland, hopefully a guide to the hundreds of bikes who enjoy this area every year. I will try and make this as informative as I can, however help from whatever source will make it even more informative, so please get in touch and if I have made a mistake or if you know better, let me know. I would really appreciate updates/real world experiences from touring in the area, your expectations and your disappointments, accommodation, food etc. The local Tourism Association is very keen to know as they welcome bikes to the area.

Oban is an ideal base for touring the West Coast, not only is the ride here great but there are fantastic trips to do, once you get here. Accommodation can be the best or the cheapest, you can easily get B & B in the town for £12 - £14 and as low as £11.50 out of season. The local tourism association has a good list of accommodation, click here
